I caught the travel bug at a young age, as I was fortunate to have parents who took me on adventures. Growing up in New Jersey, we traveled all over the Northeast. We traveled to New Hampshire, Vermont, Washington DC, the Poconos, New York City and even Bermuda all before I was 8 years old. I loved exploring what every new place had to offer.
As I got older we ventured to San Francisco, Colorado, Arizona, Toronto, England, France and my absolute favorite place, Ireland. I spent a summer semester abroad in Dublin and loved being able to immerse myself in the culture and see so much of the beautiful countryside.
However, my number one vacation destination has always been Walt Disney World (WDW). My parents first took me there when I was 5 years old and I instantly fell in love. I’ve now visited WDW and the Orlando area more times than I can count and consider it my second home.
One thing all these places have in common is that they are full of adventure. Each new city and country brings new sights to see, new cultures to experience and new people to meet. Oh and let’s not forget the new restaurants to indulge in! Seeing the world through food has to be my favorite. One year, B and I went on a cheese tour of Vermont! We ate mass amounts of cheese and got to play with sheep and goats…it was a blast! Makes me really yearn for the days that I could eat cheese (but that’s a story for another day).
Now I know you might be thinking…the world is such a big place, why do you keep returning to Disney? Well the short answer is that it’s my happy place. It’s somewhere familiar I can forget about my real life for a few days and act like a kid again. Each time I go I have a new adventure. Whether it’s experiencing new attractions (Toy Story Land is opening soon!!!), eating at a new restaurant or seeing the joy on my son’s face when he meets Mickey Mouse, the magic is real.
So what do we have coming up? Well this year is pretty tame in the world of travel for us besides a few Disney trips, but here are some spots I’d like to adventure to in the future…
- Quebec
- Vancouver
- Ireland
- Italy (particularly Venice & Tuscany)
- Copenhagen
- Sweden
- Costa Rica
- Peru
I think what I’m most excited about is getting to explore all these places with my son. He is so full of wonder and makes every experience special. Seeing him take in all these new adventures will be incredible!
Tell me where your favorite adventures have been and where you’d like to go in the future. I’m hoping to find some new spots to add to my list!
